This article is general health information, not a diagnosis or personal medical advice. Reviewed by Dr. Marlo P. Maamo, General Practitioner. For anything specific to your situation, please book a consultation.

A Lab Request is what you need if you don't yet have test results — Dr. Maamo issues a request slip for the specific blood work, urinalysis, or other tests appropriate to your symptoms or a routine check-up, which you then bring to a laboratory of your choice.

A Lab Interpretation is the opposite situation: you already have results in hand — perhaps from a company check-up, another clinic, or a walk-in lab — and want a licensed physician to explain what they mean, flag anything abnormal, and advise on next steps.

If you're not sure which applies to you, a good rule of thumb: no results yet means Lab Request; results already in hand means Lab Interpretation.
