How to Get a Prescription Refill Without an Extra Consultation

This article is general health information, not a diagnosis or personal medical advice. Reviewed by Dr. Marlo P. Maamo, General Practitioner. For anything specific to your situation, please book a consultation.
For patients on stable, ongoing medication — blood pressure maintenance, thyroid hormone replacement, and similar long-term treatments — a full new consultation for every refill can be unnecessary friction. A Prescription Refill service lets Dr. Maamo review your existing treatment plan and reissue the prescription without repeating the entire initial work-up.
This isn't automatic, though. Dr. Maamo checks whether your condition still appears stable based on what you report, and may still ask a few questions or request a fresh consultation if something seems off, a dosage needs revisiting, or it's been a long time since your last check-up.
Controlled medications requiring an S2 license follow a stricter review regardless — refills for those are treated the same as new S2 prescriptions.
