A mild fever (below 38.9°C) with no other worrying symptoms, in an otherwise healthy adult, can often be managed at home with rest, fluids, and paracetamol as needed. Most viral fevers resolve within a few days on their own.

See a doctor — online or in person — if the fever is high (above 39.4°C), lasts more than three days, comes with a stiff neck, severe headache, difficulty breathing, persistent vomiting, a rash, confusion, or if you have an underlying condition like diabetes or a compromised immune system that makes infections riskier.

A short online consultation is often enough for Dr. Maamo to assess whether your fever needs closer attention or a specific test — and it's a faster first step than guessing at home for several more days.
