Flu Season in Cebu: Prevention and When to Get Tested

Influenza and flu-like illness tend to circulate more during the rainy season months, when people spend more time indoors in shared spaces — offices, classrooms, jeepneys, malls. Basic prevention still does most of the work: regular handwashing, wearing a mask in crowded indoor spaces when you're feeling unwell, and staying up to date on the annual flu vaccine if you're in a higher-risk group.
Symptoms like sudden fever, body aches, sore throat, and fatigue that come on quickly (rather than building gradually like a common cold) are more typical of flu. Testing is most useful when symptoms are severe, you're in a high-risk group (elderly, pregnant, chronic illness), or your workplace or school requires confirmation.
If you're mostly healthy with mild symptoms, supportive care and rest are usually enough — but don't hesitate to book a consultation if symptoms worsen instead of improving after a few days.
